A 3 step approach to Parent Coaching: Assess, Analyse and Implement

Fueling Brains Parent Application Assessment

The Fueling Brains (FB) Parent Application is a specialized assessment system for measuring the brain performance of young children. The Brain Developmental Assessments are significant and reliable in evaluating the brain’s performance used by Coaches/Teachers/Parents for evaluating the different brain functions to include Working Memory, Inhibitory Control and Cognitive Flexibility.Through a detailed questionnaire, the application records developmental information and categorizes them into red, yellow or green groups (Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3) according to their skills levels. The FB Application provides a huge catalog of carefully crafted activities for parents to do with children corresponding to their assessment scores and skills levels. The FB Application focuses on how to improve the weak areas; and how to strengthen the strong areas.
What’s covered in assessment?
  • Welcome Email to New Enrollments to book the Benchmarking Brain Developmental Assessment
  • Ongoing emails to Current Enrollments to book continued Brain Developmental Assessments based on the Enrollment program.
  • Mastery: 1 Assessment every 30 days
  • Immersion: 1 Assessment every 30 days
  • Exploration: 1 Assessment every 30 days
  • Assessments completed by Parents based on their observations of their child within a Home Environment

Fueling Brains Application Analysis

Based on the Brain Assessment scores, the Coach will create an individualized Brain Health Report to reflect the true picture of the brain health of the child. The Coach will interpret the Assessments Score by breaking it down further to each of the 3 Executive Function Skill and by 9 Intelligence Markers.To begin with a few Foundation (Tier 3) and Progressing (Tier 2) skills are selected for the Brain Health Report (BHR).Age-specific and skill specific FB Activities are suggested for each skill selected so children can experience customized learning at home with the help of the parents. As each child has different needs and strengths, by doing the recommended FB Activities the child will progress consistently so that they can achieve the Green (Mastery) scores and maintain it as well. The Coach may also select a few Mastery (Tier 1) FB Activities to help the child continue to perform better and explore new avenues of learning and creativity by focusing on their strengths and capabilities.
Coaching Preparation by the coach
  • Analyze each child’s Assessment in detail by breaking it down by each EF and 9 Intelligence Markers.
  • Select a few Red(Foundation) and Yellow(Progressing) skills from the Assessments.
  • Even a few Green(Mastery) skills may be selected
  • Creation of a Brain Health Report in order to continue enhancing the EF.
  • Add the selected skills
  • Add specific Activities or Goals/Strategies for the skills selected.
  • Add 3 activities each for three environments - Left Brain/Right Brain/Movement.
  • At Least have 2 to 3 skills for each EF.
  • Completion of BHR..

Fueling Brains Coaching Implementation

This phase, we communicate with all the registered parents to book a Coaching Session based on the Enrollment program they signed up for. The email communication includes a Calendly link to book the Coaching Calls on set dates and times.

Coaching Calls Protocol with Parents
  • Create a Vision for the Call
  • Presenting the Assessments and the Evaluations/Findings.
  • Why is the Coaching Call happening (Based on the FB Application).
  • The Purpose of the call (Build a Road Map collaborating with  Parents/Teachers to build a customized program maximizing the EF of the child.
  • Present the BHR and EMPACT Platform Links.
  • Introduction of the FB Program - Highlighting the 3 Executive Functions and 9 Intelligence Markers
  • Brief overview of the 3 Executive Functions - mastery, progressing and foundational skills based on the Assessment.
  • Show the BHR - activities to enhance the Executive Function development.
  • Coach Goal - Use the Assets from the Assessment, take some yellow/red skills to open the opportunity for lifelong success and wellness.
  • Activities are presented from all three environments for a balanced enhancement - LB/RB/Movement.
  • EMPACT Platform Videos and Links for home based learning.
  • Parents to monitor the activities and progress within the home environment.

Purpose of Coaching

  • To assess the Executive Functions Skills of the child.
  • Identify strengths and areas of growth.
  • Discuss with Parent goals built on the child’s strengths using an Asset-based Approach.
  • Share targeted activities and strategies to implement.
  • Ask the parents to document the progress.
  • Next Coaching Session discusses the Evidence-based reflection.

Parents FB Application Goal

  • The Parents shall be able to guide their child in a uniform way, as per the brain developmental assessment.
  • Parents will be given tutorials about using the Fueling Brains Application and how to access activities through parents dashboard.
  • The Parents will be given tutorials on interpreting the Assessment Scores.
  • Based on the Assessment Scores, the Parents will be able to link Activities to the Brain Functions.
  • Once the Activity has been selected, they will be able to see detailed information to understand how to help their child perform the activity with information like the activity’s purpose, required materials, time duration, technique, method, outcome, et al.
  • The Parents will be able to use all the information to provide the necessary steps to perform the Activities to their child within a home environment.
